Darlgunya Community Water Project

Jandco was engaged by Water Corporation to assist in the scope of work, design, supply, and installation of electrical assets to repair the existing water infrastructure to a usable state following the 2023 Fitzroy River floods.
Location:
Darlgunya Community (near Fitzroy Crossing), WA
Client:
Water Corporation
Status:
Completed

Services Provided

Jandco’s scope included electrical design, manufacture, supply, construction, installation, testing, and commissioning work on water infrastructure assets.

Project Challenges

This project presented several unique challenges we needed to address in our approach:

  • Remote Location – Working in a remote Aboriginal community required careful planning and logistics for critical infrastructure
  • Flood Damage Assessment – Unknown scope of requirements due to the extent of flood damage across multiple sites
  • Multi-Contractor Coordination – Required flexible working arrangements with other contractors on site

Approach & Delivery

We approached the works in a flexible manner as we were tasked with identifying the full scope of requirements to restore or replace the existing water assets that were damaged in the Fitzroy River flood.

Once the works were fully identified, Jandco worked with other contractors to repair a number of existing switchboards, repair existing bore sites, and replace a damaged switchboard that was beyond repair. This then enabled us to contact Horizon Power and have power restored to all the sites as required.

We were able to have the power reconnected to a number of the sites relatively quickly once we were engaged, helping restore essential water services to the Darlgunya Community.
